Update on SECURE Act 2.0

As reported in our third-quarter Regulatory Update, Congress is considering three retirement plan reform bills: the House-approved SECURE Act 2.0 and two bills passed by two Senate committees, the EARN Act and the RISE & SHINE Act. Since our last report, the Senate finalized and released the full legislative text for provisions of the EARN Act. Although upcoming midterm elections may overshadow news of continued progress on reconciling the three bills, Congress is nonetheless expected to include a final SECURE Act 2.0 bill with other year-end lame duck tax legislation.
