Clients often say to us, “You know so much about us, tell us more about you! While you know we are passionate about helping people successfully manage their financial lives, we believe it is important for everyone to create an engaging and rich life both outside and inside the office. So we thought we would begin to share, from time to time, a little bit of what has been happening with the Daybreak Financial Partners Team.
Anne Olmstead our “office mom” and client service extraordinaire along with her husband Michael, traveled to Germany in May to meet their ninth grandchild, Isaac Matthias Olmstead. Isaac’s Dad, their son Mark, is a Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force and is currently stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He and his wife Elizabeth have 2 older sons, Asher and Ezra.
During their two week stay they traveled to the Jungfrau region of Switzerland where Anne’s family originated – specifically the Wengernalp. The scenery was breathtaking! They rode the cog railroad up to the train station at the Wengeralp and took photographs under the station sign where her parents had their picture taken decades ago – fulfilling a wish Anne had for a very long time.
The real highlight of their trip was in Interlaken. While they were in the village they watched numerous paragliders soar in the air against the backdrop of the mountains. Michael looked longingly up and mused that it looked like a lot of fun. They took the incline up the very steep terrain to The Top of Interlaken at Harder Kulm and after lunching at the top, Michael and Mark decided to investigate to see if they might be able to schedule a paragliding expedition. Within 15 minutes they were in a van to the top of a ski slope and had an adventure that still makes Michael grin from ear to ear these months later. He found out after he landed that his pilot represents Switzerland’s women’s paragliding team in international competition.
At this point, Mark doesn’t know where or when the Air Force will send him elsewhere. Anne and Michael have traveled to Okinawa, England and now Germany to see him and his family, and they look forward to booking travel to wherever it is they land next – whether stateside or overseas.
